Familia Tours The Eastern Region of the Country for the first time!!!
Feb. 24th, 2011
Winters passing and the sun is shinning but apparently Toronto is as cold as your deep freeze. And although we are totally stoked to be heading out there for Canadian Music Week http://canadianmusicfest.com/artists/ (March 9th-13th) wearing our warmest jacket, tuques, gloves and scarfs doesn't seem all that fun or rock and roll BUT it does seem perfectly CANADIAN!!!
Our showcase on March 10th at El Mocambo is getting some good response from industry folks so we're planning a fantastilcally unforgettable show. If you know anyone in the Toronto area please let them know to come check us out! Woohoo!
This month we also had the privilege of partnering with our friends of The Green Couch Session http://www.greencouchsessions.ca to record an acoustic/piano version of our song "More". It should be up on their site by March 5th.
Between Christmas and New Years we secretly went into Mushroom Studios to record a couple new tracks that we hope to release on an up-coming EP so stay tuned for that. We recorded the 2 songs live off the floor so we could capture that emotional energy often missed on past recordings. We'll keep you up-dated in the weeks to come!
Well, we're very much looking forward to playing in Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal this March. It's truly a DREAM COME TRUE for us!!! Thanks for your love and support and remember to check out our show dates so you can let your friends in distant Canadian lands know FAMILIA is coming to town.
in the words of my dear brother Cody...

First off, I was want to say how lucky we feel to have so many amazing friends, it's been so great to have all of your support, and for that, we thank you.
So earlier this year, we were asked to perform a Tuesday night showcase at The Republic on Granville (which is a weekly event).
We didn't really know what to expect but the night turned out far better than anyone could have anticipated. We met some fantastic people and shared the stage with some amazing talent. We've been back to perform already will definitely return there to share our sweet musical heat. Big shout out to the guys who organize the night, there's a special place in our hearts for you, keep it up!
As far as shows coming up, we will be performing in Maple Ridge at the Albion Hall on May 8th. It will be a benefit concert to raise funds for Rawanda, so do your best to come out, and donate as much as you can. Later on this summer, we'll be attending the Vancouver Island Music Conference (VIMBC), which is a week long event placed at the end of June. When we went last year it was an unreal experience. So you can bet we are excited to go back and pick up where we left off with some of the amazing people/musicians we had the pleasure of meeting there last year. Once that's over, we'll be hitting the road with our friends in Spotlight Carnival for a cross-canada tour! It'll be our first, so please Canada, be gentle on our soft, un-road worthy bodies. haha.
We've got some new songs on the way, and are very eager to share them with all of you...in fact, today we will be recording a live video of one of these songs! It's for this year's Peak Performance Project. 2nd time's a charm? We'll see. Although we couldnt be happier for last year's winners We Are The City. Well deserved boys, there's the nicest fellas we know! Really!
One more thing.....CODY'S GETTING MARRIED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (to his sweet and beautiful, now fiancee, Genesis)
Well, that the buzz in Familia camp. Thanks for reading.
We are very excited to share the stage once again with some of the amazing artists involved in the Peak Performance Project ( TV Heart Attack,Painted Birds,Ben Sigston and Tea) Its gonna be tiiiight! We have a little surprise for our set too . So hope you can all come out its gonna be the bombshnigedydigedy!
Love Peace and Chicken Grease

Getting all our homework done for the Peak Performance Project. So much to do. Why are we inherently procrastinators??
Beginning to plan for a tour in February. Lookin forward to finally getting on the road.

Love and Happiness - The Peak Showcase a Success!
November 2nd, 2009
First, we would like to say thank you to all our fans, friends and family who came out to support us on Thursday. You all mean the world to us and you are the reason we've come to this point with our music. Merci Beaucoup!!
I would say we were on a high at the showcase. We were on edge with nerves leading up to the night but rehearsing our asses off paid off and we felt really good about the performance. The sound on stage was great and the fans were giving us great energy to play off. I think there were a lot of folks who heard us for the first time which is always a healthy challenge to rise to.
The night was crazy cool for us and here are a few highlights we'd like to share...
Met and chatted it up with John Edward Collins the bass player from the New Pornographers and one half of the JC/DC production team who produced a couple of our favorite albums... Tegan and Sara's So Jealous and The New Pornographers Twin Cinema. Very cool encounter!
Our '79 Dodge Van stalled, no joke, 40 times on the way home to Maple Ridge at 2am. thank God we made it home alive!
The crowd was diggin' our Classic Canadian rendition of Neil Young's Heart of Gold
The other bands were great! So nice to see them in a better room than the at the camp.
We had a video interview with Tamara Joy Stannners and a radio interview with Lori Logan live on the Peak out in the sreet. Interviews are always a tad awkward so we don't pretend we're safistacated just that we're dudes you'd want to hang out with.
Overall is was great to see all the peeps we came to love at the camp. The Rainbow at the Last Supper of camp was a promise that the friendships will last a lifetime.
Once again we were reminded of how fortunate we are to have been chosen for this project. We are grateful and humbled when we think of the quality of musicians competing and the faculty running it. Here's to high marks from the judges for our performance. Cheers!

August / September News
August 6th, 2009
Hello Friends,
We’ve got lot’s going on this fine month of August.
Firstly, we are looking forward to the Peak Performance top 20 band Bootcamp at Rock Ridge Camp in Princeton. We leave August 26th and have one week of intensive training. Pray that we are able to wake up for the early morning sessions!
Last Sunday, we got to shoot a sweet music video for the song “Seventeen”. It was filmed on a rooftop in west van with the sunset and city as the backdrop. Can’t really go wrong there. It’s in the editing stages right now but stay tuned to check it out.
We are hopefully going to hook up with Ralph Murphy (Vice President for ASCAP Nashville) when he comes to Vancouver to have him critique a couple of our new songs. It is a great opportunity we don’t want to pass up. See how it goes.
